Invading artist John Cerney's space

John Cerney's work (www.johncerneymurals.com) makes me smile. He creates giant murals that can be seen along interstates all across the country. And if you cruise around Salinas, where this California artist resides, you'll see his larger-than-life work out in lettuce fields and on the sides of barns. Coming this October, he will have an installation in Marfa, Texas which not only makes me fan girl more, but means I'll be traveling there again because this piece (actually three pieces) - will involve James Dean and music and is going to be too cool for school and I. Can't. Wait.

Anyway, he could not have been more gracious when I called out of the blue to see if I could visit his studio and take a few pics to document his work process. Artists and their spaces fascinate me. He was working on a mural of a race car for Porsche (that will be on display at the Laguna Seca Raceway) and was facing a tight deadline but, as I said, was gracious enough to let me come in, creep around and ask a few questions while he worked.
